In efforts to deter terrorists the TSA (Transportation Safety Administration) is continuing to roll out full body scanners. The scanners are going to be placed in airports around the country. These machines are the TSA's response to guys like Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab also known as the underwear bomber. The TSA was proud to announce that these machines will see right through clothes and reveal hidden objects, such as weapons and explosive materials. If these scanners don't trouble you they should. Talk about an invasion of privacy. These body scanners should be called what they are, electronic strip search machines. Do you understand the power of these machines, they see right through your clothes. I am sure there are at least a few TSA agents pleased to take up their new post on the monitor side of these strip search machines. I can picture the conversation after work now:
"So what do you do?" . . . "I sit and watch naked people all day." . . . "That must be a cool job." . . . "The only part that sucks is that the images are negatives."
People need to stand up for their rights as Americans, this is why I am creating this blog. If a cop cannot search you without probable cause, why can the TSA. Does the TSA really need to give passengers strip searches to make air travel safe? It seems to me that they have crossed a line here. It is time to tell the TSA to back off, we are not criminals.
